Never thought I would be a reader

So one thing I achieved this weekend was finishing my third book for the year.
Now this might not sound like much of an achievement but I have never been a book reader, but always wanted to be. My goal now is to read one book a month.

When I was in America last year I bought my Kindle and started to read Cesar's Way The Natural, Everyday Guide to Understanding and Correcting Common Dog Problems (I love the Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan and have always been obsessed with dogs and animals in general).  This book took me a few months to read as I was quite busy with my new job that I was lucky enough to get very soon after returning from America. Once I had finished this book it felt really good and I immediately started looking for the next book to read. I have read books such as the Harry Potter series and the Twilight series before but I wanted to read something more enriching, something I could learn from.

I looked up many reading lists and stumbled across one with Siddhartha as number one book to read. Even though it wasn't a biography I felt the story could perhaps teach me something.  Siddhartha is an Indian story about a boys journey who is searching for peace within. I found it very interesting as I didn't know where it would lead to next and could relate as I feel like I am on my own journey trying to find the right balance in life. I found it interesting that in a magazine Mirander Kerr listed this book as one of her favourites. She also listed the Autobiography of a Yogi which I have put on the list of books I want to read and have just started tonight! I just finished Kris Jenner's new book, Kris Jenner and All Things Kardashian. I really enjoyed this book as I watch their shows and admire their family work ethic and found it really interesting to find out about Kris's life before their show.

I have a few more books I have noted that I would like to read:
Mirander Kerr also recommended Catcher In The Rye by Jeff Marsden

Psycho-Cybernetics, A New Way to Get More Living Out of Life by Maxwell Maltz

The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin

Not sure about the last two "self help" books but I like the idea of them and saw them recommended somewhere so their is no harm in trying!

Even though I did finish something this weekend I still feel like I haven't achieved anything..
I spend a lot of time surfing the internet and reading up on things I am interested in but don't feel like it gets me anywhere, I never take the next step of actually doing it. I think this week I will try and make a list of a few things I want to accomplish next weekend and this way I may feel like I have done something productive. Actually I guess I have started this blog again and have planned to use my time more wisely so that is the first step.. maybe I have achieved more than I thought!

Welcome Back

It has been two years since I have been on this "blog" and wow so many things have happened in my life since then.

I have finished my degree in commerce marketing and management, travelled the world, moved house, lost and gained people in my life, started my first full time job and have matured a lot. One thing that is the same that I am happy to say, I am still with my boyfriend :).

I have arrived back at this blog as I would like to have somewhere to record the hobbies and ideas I have. The problem I have is that I have so many ideas of hobbies I would like to explore but never actually get around to starting or finishing something. My goal is to update this blog every weekend with progress of my ideas, hobbies and dreams. Perhaps this way I can look back at what I have accomplished and feel I have been productive with my free time!
